We spent the following day wandering around San Francisco, getting ourselves kitted out for the long trek ahead of us, knowing that we would be filling the unwanted stages. A special thanks to Adam at Performance Bikes for not kicking us out onto the curb as we haggled for a bike that would keep us going for the next 4-5 weeks!

The relay got off to a flying start on Wednesday May 4, from an amazing backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge, accompanied by the wonderful; Todd, Clay, David, Donna and Desiree. We ran alongside them for a whole mile - woo! The speed of these guys soon got us out of the city.

The next couple of days saw some fantastic cyclists (Dennis, Dianne, Craig and Jack) really pushing us through California- walnut trees, grapevines and crazy out of the blue lightening storms.

Todd, Clay and David graced us with their presence once again on Saturday in the Saquoia National Park and Kern Canyon Road - one of the most breathtaking roads in the world, leading straight to Vegas! From the flat straight roads we headed up into the mountains of east California and spent today cycling through Death Valley.

It's safe to say we made it out alive as we spent the evening with a gun loving Republican called Pat and his giant English Bull Mastiff. God bless America!
